What was your first job?
My first job was as a transfer agent at a financial services firm. I was part of a team responsible for processing operational transactions for US retirement accounts in the retail business. This role introduced me to US retirement accounts and the mutual fund business, laying the foundation for my future interests in asset management operations and technology.
What excites you about financial technology today?
What excites me most about financial technology today is its ability to democratize access to financial services. Digital platforms now provide previously underserved populations access to banking, lending, and investment opportunities. Additionally, fintech drives investments in various areas such as stocks, real estate, digital assets, invoice discounting, and cross-border payments, reshaping the financial landscape.
Where will financial technology and finance evolve in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, financial technology will become even more integrated and unique in its offerings to all types of investors. The top three trends I anticipate are:
- The tokenization of previously illiquid assets such as real estate, fine art, and private equity.
- In embedded finance, financial services are seamlessly integrated into non-financial platforms to offer products and services.
- Sustainable and green investment options, including solar and other energy-efficient systems, green bonds, and ETFs.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
People might be surprised to learn that outside of financial technology, I am deeply passionate about global cinema, primarily regional Indian and European films that explore unique cultural narratives and unconventional storytelling. This passion helps me appreciate diverse perspectives and creative problem-solving approaches, which I apply to my work in fintech and with global clients.
