What was your first job?
I always say that I had two first jobs. Let me explain. My actual first job was just a few months after I graduated from business school—I opened a small ice cream shop. That experience taught me what it means to be an entrepreneur, how to manage operations, and how to get things done. I gained valuable skills in sales, marketing, accounting, and managing people. However, when it comes to my first professional corporate job, I worked as an inside sales representative at Google. My role involved selling their products, making cold calls, and sending cold emails. That’s where I truly learned the art of sales—how to be an effective sales representative, how to listen, and most importantly, how to understand a client’s needs.
What excites you about financial technology today?
For me, financial technology is something I have experienced firsthand. Over the past 10 years, I have lived in and travelled across multiple countries, witnessing the evolution of FinTech in various forms—from payments and banking to embedded finance. It’s incredible how seamlessly FinTech has integrated into our daily lives. We’ve reached a point where all you need is your phone—or even just a smartwatch—to make payments for groceries, gas, coffee, or any other daily purchases. The industry has grown tremendously, and I’m truly excited to see what the future holds.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
The advice I would give to my younger self is to start investing as early as possible. The earlier you start, the more time your money has to grow.
